My wife and I have 3 children that we homeschool. We started in the corner of our apartment and now have a dedicated room in our house. It has been an amazing journey that I am excited to hear you are considering. At one point we even had several other children from our community attending to help prepare them for pre-K. We have used several curriculums and now create our own. For your initial steps, I recommend:
1. Talk to other homeschool parents. There are also homeschool groups that you can connect with and hear firsthand from the children and parents.
2. Understand your why (why you want to homeschool) and what your and your child's goals are. This will help you to stay focused and find the right strategy that fits your needs. Homeschooling has tons of options now from virtual schools, various curriculums, hybrid schools, and even some early college options.
3. Create a learning space in your home. It does not have to be large just conducive to learning. I recommend a dedicated space to avoid distractions.
4. Research and understand your state requirements.
5. If it is right for you and your family. Jump in. There will be challenges but you will overcome them. Help is available and it is incredibly rewarding to take part in your children's education.
Blessings on your journey. Feel free to reach out if you have questions or need help.
